UPSC which conducts the CSE every year follows a standard
exam pattern for the 3 stages. Prelims, Mains, and Interview; after completion
of which the board selects the candidates based on their ranks and marks for
the various services like, Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian
Police Services (IPS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and other services
categories in Group A and Group B.
The UPSC/CSE is conducted in three phases:
Phase 1: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type)
Phase 2: Civil Services (Mains) Examination (Descriptive Type)
Phase 3: Personal Interview (Personality Test)
